It's been a while since I've blogged anything and I think this is the perfect post to get me back into the swing of things. I have recently been enthralled by the idea of documenting a family's day-to-day life. The idea of telling a story of exactly where you are in life with your family is so sweet to me. To be able to capture your family in your own home, just being yourself, not worrying about posing for the camera, looking perfect or having your kids behave perfectly-that's what draws me in to this style of photography. It frees your family up to be completely who you are and frees me up to just capture the true emotion, character, love, laughter, and interaction that will naturally unfold between everyone. That is beautiful. It's not that I don't want to do posed family photos anymore, or think they aren't worth your time, it's just a new idea to offer. I will go into more detail on this whole idea later, so stayed tuned for more on these documentary-style photo sessions.
This family is actually part of my family and are very precious to me. I spent half the day photographing a normal rainy day with the Callahans and loved every minute of it.
Here is their short story.
